It's been a long time since a band has come out of Jacksonville. This band is made up of obscure southern rock veterans who have shared the stage with David Allan Coe, Mofro or Shanty Town. However, these guys know their job and produce music that is hotter than a shot of whiskey. Le bon rock sudiste « Better man » sonne comme du Lynyrd Skynyrd des années 70. After a piano intro, the syncopated and catchy "Best of me" lines up a 38 Special-like chord progression. The southern ballad "Preacher man" is embellished with dobro sentences between verses and surprises with its slightly hard rock break. On the solo, the guitars are harmonized but we would have preferred a more melodic theme. "My way" also has some hard colorations.The last two tracks are a replay of "Best of me" with the piano prelude separated from the rest of the song. Is it a lack of inspiration for other songs? Is it a lack of inspiration for other songs? But the best composition is undoubtedly the superb melodic southern ballad "Right here in the room" which pays tribute to Ronnie Van Zant by quoting various titles of his songs. All the ingredients of an honest southern rock are gathered, with a good voice, southern guitars, an efficient rhythm section, a certain talent for writing. Unfortunately, the great era is over and such a record will not revolutionize the world of Southern rock. But this album will give the listener a good time and after all, that's what our favorite music is all about. Good time southern rock!
